Complete Guide for Malaysia diving licence

1. Scuba Diving Certification From Beginners To Professionals
Discover Scuba Diver Course (DSD)

Experience diving does not require any diving license, as long as you are interested in diving, you can sign up. After the training of basic skills, relax your body and mind, you will be accompanied by our coach, dive into the fascinating underwater world, and feel the opening and magic of the door to another world.

The duration of the course is 1 day.

Package 1: 1 Confined Water Course + 1 Open Water Experience Diving

Refresher Course
The Diver Review Course is designed for certified divers. Provides a full OW diving technique refresher for unskilled divers who have not been diving for a long time. “Preservation” for a diver's underwater skills. If you are a certified diver, but you have not dived for more than half a year and feel that your skills are rusty, or you plan to go to a more advanced dive shop after a long period of no diving. Then we strongly recommend that you first choose a refresher course to pick up all the knowledge and skills that were returned to the teacher. This is the best way to ensure that you can safely and happily step out into the ocean again.

Open Water Diver (OW)
The Open Water Course is leading SCUBA Course. In the OW general course, students have a very tight schedule. Students will gain introductory theoretical knowledge about diving by watching videos, reading manuals and listening to professional instructors. After completing a series of written exercises, they will take the OW theory test. At the same time, under the guidance of our professional instructors, students will use 2 days to complete all confined water exercises and 4 open water exercises. Finally, after meeting all the movement standards and successfully passing the theory exam, we will issue the OW certificate to the student. With an OW certificate, it means that you have the qualification to swim in the underwater world for life! However, we would like to remind you that because the OW course is the most basic and important course with a large amount of learning, not everyone can complete it in 4 days.

The course duration is 4 days.

2 days of theory study + confined water and 2 days of open water practice
Advanced Open Water
AOW, diving courses provide participants with different specialized diving training, such as deep diving, boat diving, underwater navigation and night diving. The course requires the completion of 5 open water dives (Open Water Advanced Diver) or 9 open water dives (Open Water Advanced Diver). Participating students must be Open Water Junior Diver or other equivalent qualifications.

Specialty Courses

The diving specialty course is a short-term special specialty course, and the course schedule is usually 1~2 days, mainly 2~4 times of specialty diving training. Participation eligibility varies depending on the difficulty level of each specialty dive.

Emergency First Rescue

Medical emergency training is an independent emergency rescue and CPR course. This course is mainly medical training. There is no diving course, so the participants do not need to have any diving qualifications; the course duration is about 8 hours. If the trainee has passed the CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) training of the International Red Cross, it is not necessary to study EFR.

Rescue Diver

The Rescue Diver course is the first time in learning to dive that requires a diver to focus on another diver. In this course, students will learn how to avoid dangers and accidents, and be ready to deal with emergencies in the water. The course includes 5 subject-level 12 rescue exercises. Participating students must be Open Water Advanced Diver with EFR training or other equivalent qualifications.

Master Scuba Diver

When a diver has completed five specialty diving courses and is qualified as a rescue diver, he can apply for a Master Diver license. The Master Diver is the highest honor for recreational divers.

Diver Master

Divemasters are the first step into diving instruction and training, and divers with a divemaster license can work as dive guides or assist in the training of dive instruction. The Divemaster course consists of three main components: diving theory and knowledge, diving skills and practical marine practicum experience.

Assistant Instructor

Assistant Instructor course provide students with a deeper understanding of the expertise and skills of diving instructional training. The course content includes the actual marine practice course with the students under the supervision of the instructor, which is the best diving instructor training education. Participating students must be qualified as a divemaster.

Instructor Development Course

When a student completes the instructor training course, he or she can engage in the work of an instructor, and has the qualifications to train students to assistant instructor, but cannot teach professional diving training.

Instructor development courses provide diving teaching skills and professional knowledge, including at least 18 courses, covering all teaching theory and practical diving skills.


2. The most common Diving Agency in Malaysia

A diving agency is basically an agency responsible for providing certified diving licenses, diving courses, oceanography, etc. The most common ones in Malaysia are the following:

PADI

PADI is the abbreviation of Professional Association of Diver Instructor International Professional Diving Instructor Association.

Founded in 1966 by Ralf Ericssion and John Cronin. Based on the principles of teaching, they designed a complete teaching system, which quickly made diving activities prosperous. At present, PADI is headquartered in Santa Ana, California, and has offices in Canada, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Norway, Sweden and Singapore. PADI has 25,000 instructors around the world and more than 500,000 diving licenses are issued each year, making PADI the largest diving training organization in the world.

SSI

The full name of the International Scuba Diving School is Scuba Schools International. SSI is not only a school, but also a diving license management organization. Like PADI and CMAS, it is a kind of international diving license. Moreover, SSI and PADI are mutually authenticated, which saves you the trouble of repeating authentication. SSI was established in 1970 and merged with the International Association of Diving Schools (NASDS) in 1999.

AIDA
AIDA is the abbreviation of “International Association for the Development of Apnea”, and its main function is to organize free diving competitions, certify free diving records and provide free diving courses from introductory to professional.

AIDA recognized free diving rules are Static Apnea, Dynamic Apnea, Constant Weight, Free immersion, Variable weight and Unrestricted Freediving (No Limits).

CMAS

CMAS is the acronym for World Confederation of Underwater Activities.

CMAS is the only official diving organization recognized by the World Olympic Movement Organization. It was established in 1958 and has many branch organizations, such as CMAS/CUA, CMAS/ADS, CMAS/UHA, CMAS/STARS, CMAS/SSDF, etc. It is a member of UNESCO. CMAS has signed accreditation agreements with 86 countries around the world, including China, with 10,000,000 CMAS diving members all over the place. CMAS is the earliest international diving organization recognized by China Diving Sports Association.

NAUI

The National Association of Underwater Instructors, founded in the United States in 1959, is known as “the largest non-profit, most respected diving training and certification organization” and is an international membership-based diving organization. Headquartered in Tampa, Florida, USA. Its franchise stores, resorts, and service centers are located all over the world. With dozens of thousands of diving professionals around the world and numerous associated certified diving training centers in various countries, NAUI has more than a third (and growing) of the U.S. market, with a larger market share internationally . Globally, NAUI offers a full range of training courses from skin divers to diving course directors, dozens of specialized courses, including Nitrox and technical diving.

SDI/TDI

Scuba Diving International/Technical Diving International (SDI/TDI) was established in 1994 by some of the most experienced diving instructors in the world at that time, and its education system was popularized in North America, South America, Europe, China Asia, North Asia, Middle East. TDI's core management personnel have more than 20 years of experience in the technical diving field: TDI develops a wide range of technical diving training courses, uses many supporting teaching materials, and provides popular prices for technical diving fields such as NITROX, Mixed gas, Deep air, etc. Education Training.

IANTD

IANTD – Internationa Association of Nitrox and Technical Divers (International Association of Nitrox and Technical Divers), is the originator of all technical diving organizations, with diving training at the forefront for more than 30 years, established in 1985, its education system is popular in the region For North America, UK, Europe, Africa, Asia. IANTD develops high quality “Standards and Procedures” to regulate EANx education and training. GUE

Global Underwater Explorers (GUE) is a diving organization providing educational recreational, technical and cave diving. This is a not-for-profit, membership-based organization headquartered in High Springs, Florida, USA.

4.Diving Equipment

Generally, after signing a diving course or license package, all diving equipment will be prepared by the dive shop, such as: Wetsuits, gas cylinders, diving goggles, diving equipment, diving fins. What you need to prepare yourself are changing clothes, seasickness medicine, towels, and if necessary, you can apply waterproof and marine life-friendly sunscreen.


5. Some advice from professionals:

  • Be sure to try more on the installation of scuba equipment to obtain the most suitable diving state for you. If you have snorkeling equipment, you can bring it, but some snorkeling masks and fins are not suitable for scuba diving.
  • If you think the price of a course is too good to be true, ask what it includes. Some dive shops provide all the equipment you need, while others charge an additional fee on top of course tuition.
